Genève Champagne 2019
The 2019 event represented La Septième Jambe of our intrepid 15 year, 4000 kilometre, Huit-Etape, splendidly slow Tour de France.
So far we have ridden between the Capitals, past Les Chateaux, down the Atlantic, beside the Canal, along the Riviera and over the Alps. And now, as the penultimate plan, we just had to cycle to Champagne!
We began our four days of ludicrous lycra clad cyclisme on Wednesday 11th September 2019 at CERN in Geneva. As one of the world’s foremost centres for advanced scientific research, it couldn’t have been a more appropriate place to launch an atomic rocket thrusting over the mountain and north!
Our 515km cycle course comprised foothills, big hills, little hills; highlands, lowlands and farmlands; rivers, lakes, streams and dams; temples, medieval towns and catholic churches; Jura, Burgundy and Champagne.
Our very courageous participants were: Tim Bagshaw, Humphrey Berney, Jonathan Briggs, Charlotte Clabburn, Paul Clayton, Richard Coke, Astrid de Valon, Celia de Blasi, William Finch, Julia Gooch, Richard Tigger Goodwin, Duncan Gregory, William Harris, James Harrison, William Heigham, Victoria Herbert, Georgia Hendey, Henry Raker, Joanna Savory, Nick Walker, Philip Weston and Rosie Wilson
