The Route
Starting at the Colline du Ancien Château, Nice on Wednesday 13th September 2017, we will cruise along the glorious Promenade des Anglais to follow the River Var gently into the hills and then continue a subtle climb…only the hairpins will indicate any change! The route is presently 7%1 longer than the standard 500 kilometres and the sights are stunning; magnificent mountains rising above us, white water streams below us, open grass plains, alpine orchards, highland cattle and sassy swiss milkmaids in dirndls. We will weave swiftly through the Alps finding rest, recuperation and rehydration in lakeside lodges, cosy chalets and gastronomic family run hotels.
On Saturday 16th September, after four days of jolly healthy exercise, we will complete our little excursion on the Rive Droite of the Rhône, where it meets Lake Geneva, overlooking the powerful Jet d’Eau.
As ever the mission is to pedal safely, laugh lots and raise another massive sum for neurological research. We have £50,000 to beat and given the extra kilometres and impressive climbs, sponsorship will be copious and encouraging.
